late afternoon sun

I am just drawn to light.
It makes me happy.
And I thrive on happiness.

The bug that auntie painted in Bugg's room.
Late afternoon sun ,especially.
I love walking through the house
to see where the light hits.

The snow on the mountain tops
just glistens!
In my front yard.

Good night.

cookies that advocate

I talked to Mr. Budget Cutter
on the phone.
We are still trying to
save Miss Britt.
He was nice.
He explained things well.
He is a good person.
I liked him, actually.
But still......
we needed to kick it up
a notch, if you
know what I mean.
And I think you do.
Yes, the cookies.

We decided to go straight
to the good stuff.
Oatmeal.
GREAT VALUE Oatmeal, at that.
Good old fashioned chocolate
chip oatmeal cookies.

With cinnamon.
NO raisins.
NO nuts.
Lots of chocolate.

Bugg's face of approval.
These cookies were so
deliciously perfect
to take to the head honcho.
These were going to
make him remember
his young boyhood days
at home when his mama
would have oatmeal cookies
on the table when he got home from school.
We'd get him right where we wanted him.

His heart melting
at the taste of these cookies,
his soul softening at the sight of Bugg,
his mind recalling only
that he wanted to keep Miss Britt.

We wrapped the cookies up special.
Wrote a sweet note.
I gelled Bugg's curls to their cutest.
We wheeled into Mr. Budget Cutter's office.
And.....
he wasn't there.
(even after specifically calling to make sure that he'd be there!)
However, it was cool
because we got to meet another
head honcho who was gracious and
awesome and even knew who
we were.
Apparently, Bugg & his mama have been discussed.
Ahem. That's good, right?

how Bugg chose the winner

Here you all are.
Written on dried beans!
This is Bugg's favorite toy,
as you'll remember from the
youtube video.

Suspense.

So -
I put them all on his tray.
He swirled and grabbed and chucked.
Whichever one landed the farthest
would be the winner.
Which was....
Shelane.
You lucky gal.
Okay, I'm still going to
answer questions.
But we decided to paint
our bedroom and that's no
small project to cover up
chocolate brown walls.
The previous owners
had good taste but why
did they paint the ceiling brown, too?
So I'll be in & out a bit this week.
Happy Monday.
Love, Bree

mama's day

"There is no role in life more essential and more eternal than that of motherhood."
all quotes taken from Elder Ballard's talk
"Recognize that the joy of motherhood comes in moments.
There will be hard times and frustrating times.
But amid the challenges,
there are shining moments of joy and satisfaction."
"What matters is that a mother loves her children deeply and,
in keeping with the devotion she has for God and her husband,
prioritizes them above all else."

I just love these children of mine.
SO MUCH.
How wonderful that they are mine for always.
I hope your day was most extra special,
all you dear mothers!

some ?s answered!

I am loving all your questions & comments! Thank you so much. And if you haven't yet, make a comment here to try and win a little somethin' fun in honor of the Bugg's upcoming birthday.

OK, so if Bugg could talk, this is what I think he'd answer.................

Grandma asked Bugg: What's it like to communicate with Heavenly Beings because I KNOW you do.

Grandma, I love you. You are so good to me. And yep, I do talk to God and angels and boy, are they funny! Especially at 4:30 am. The house is real quiet, everyone is sleepin', and I wake my mama up with my giggles and loud laughs. Sometimes she comes in and looks around the room and up at the ceiling. She can't see anything but she knows. Something special is going on between me and the heavens. And I love it. It makes me feel so happy to know that I am a child of God and that He loves me so much. I'm glad that he gave me this very special life. Oh, and I think it's time for a haircut, please.

Catherine asked: Bugg - I know it will be hard to say, but WHO is funnier, mom or dad :-) That laugh of yours is contagious, thank you!

Gee, that IS hard. My dada throws me up in the air and that makes me laugh. And my mama plays hide 'n seek with me and nibbles on my neck and I laaaaauuugh at that, too. I'll say mama 'cause she's prettier.

April asked: Bugg- what do you really see through those lenses of yours? I have a feeling you see more than any of us ever will... :)

Hi April! I like that question. I wish I could explain to you what I see. I wish I could tell my mama, especially when she gets so sad about having a handicapped boy. I know it's hard for her, but if she just knew how much God loves her and how much I love her, she'd have more joy in her heart than she knew was possible. One thing that I see is how simple and joyous this short life is. If only more people knew where we came from, why we're here on earth, and where we get to go in the next, everyone would be a lot happier.

This is loads of fun, all you Bugg-lovers! We'll keep going with more questions tomorrow. Don't be bashful now. Bring 'em on! Anything! We are not shy folk. You can comment or email me. Even if you've already asked something, ask more! We love it!

PS: Hahahahahahaa. I just read the Hunk's comments while I have been blogging. You gotta read 'em.

May is his month

I'm big on holidays.
All of 'em.
Who celebrated Cinco De Mayo today?
Wooohooo!

Bugg's b-day 2009
But birthdays?
Well, they are HUGE!
They are my favorite, in fact.

Celebrating a LIFE!
Especially the life of someone
so special and wonderful.
And to make them feel
like a king/queen on their birthday?
I thrive on stuff like that.

This is Bugg's month.
May.
A good month.
The month this awesome and
perfect soul entered our family.
May 2006 changed us forever.
Celebrating our miracle Bugg
is a daily thing.
But in May,
it is magical.

And because I really love him
and I really love YOU
because you love HIM,
we're kicking off the
birthday festivities with a
wee giveaway.
Cookies....absolutely.
From my favorite local bakery.
and remember this?

This cute little pennant banner?
It has been up for a few weeks
just because.
No parties, no b-days.
I just like color & festiveness.
I want you to have a jolly
banner in your home, too.
So I'm gonna make you one!
To remind you that life
is to be celebrated every single day.

Just tell me this:
If you could ask me or Bugg anything,
what would it be?
We'll answer every single one.
Ends Mother's Day Eve.

Monday, May 3

the mamma jamma post

It is Monday.
I call it the
"weekend recovery" day.
Does anyone else
feel as if Monday
is a total let-down
after the weekend?
But it's worth it.
Because the weekend was
so very good to me.
and so was today, in fact.

It just tickles me to pieces
to be sharing this boy
with the world.
His laugh has been
viewed 246 times now
in the Youtube video.
(About 50 of those are my mother, I'm sure.)
Bugg's Dada made that
awesome video for his final in
a digital media class he was taking.
Thank you all for
your sweet comments!!!

me. Last Thursday at 10:30 pm.
The only picture I got
of that glorious day.
I went to BYU Women's Conference
with my mom & sister.
It was amazing
and my soul was
filled with joy, understanding,
light, healing, friendship, wonder,
gratitude, sisterhood and peace.

These 3 women. I love them!
Michelle, Kristi, & Jill are jewels
in this world.
And I got to meet them!!!
I'm still in shock.
Out of the thousands of
women at BYU that day,
I spied the 3 of them.
Nobody else could have
even phased me at that moment.
Except maybe Shirley Temple or
Thomas S Monson.
I'm so grateful to these ladies for so much
and also for meeting up the
next day for lunch.
Oh, my, that was so wonderful.
Aaaand I met Jennie,
a kindred spirit of a mama
that celebrates a special life, too.

May Day looked like this.
But it didn't matter.
We had our own little
Family Holiday this past weekend.
We turned off the phones
and celebrated just because we could.

Does anyone else think it's funny
that the gas station plants
fake flowers?
I like it! Classy!
Does anyone else think it's
funny that I took a pic of it?

Our holiday was grand.
As in very fun but very relaxed.
No laundry, no errands,
no mindless-internetting
or channel surfing.
Just being together.
The pool was fun.....
and interesting with the "twins."
(oh another time, another time!
I could blog all night about
life with TWINS!)

We planted magical jelly beans
in a pot, covered
them with dried beans and
watered them with moonlight.
The next morning.....

....rock candy suckers had grown. Say Whaaaaat?!!
Thanks, Lisa.

a little basement S'more roasting.
Scavenger hunting.
Gaming.
Eating.
Movies.
Up past bed-timing.

and btw,
pom poms are a gob of fun.
Make up a zillion of these
and you've got hours of entertainment.
PS: babies eat them.

Rooskii has been keeping
our smiling muscles toned!
Especially with her "Uh-uuuuh"
every time something is dropped.
She says "uh-oh" all the time
and you know I'm eating that up
like mice on gouda.

So May Day was delayed a few days.
I'm liking that style:
party when Iiiiiii am ready.
Or the weather, in this case.

PS: babies eat May pole ribbons, too.

It is harder to get dinner
on the table on Mondays, too.
Why is that?
But I look over from the stove
and see this.
{Puddling.}

and this!
This is how you entertain
children while needing both
hands at the stove.
and give my aching biceps a rest
for 2 seconds.

Happy Monday.
ooops, wait.
Would ya look at that?
It is now Tuesday.
