forever

The heavens were perfectly blue
& joyous yesterday
as we bid Grandma a
"til we meet again"
farewell.

The family gathered together last night
and watched a sweet slide-show
of my grandma.
She loved being a wife, mother, & grandmother.
Tears flowed (for the millionth time that day)
as I was filled with gratitude
for my grandparents and their example
of an eternal marriage and family.
This beautiful & precious life is just a speck
of eternity.
I know families are forever.
And this knowledge is what eases the pain
of this sad time in our family right now.
Uncle Kelton & Grandpa
And then we karaoked.
We pretty much rocked the house.
Even sweet Grandpa joined in.

I hope you find sunshine & lots of yellow
moments during your weekend!

inviting you to celebrate a YELLOW weekend

sorry if you got this post twice!

We just celebrated green.
And at Christmas we celebrate gold, green & red.
4th of July - r,w,b.
Labor Day - white.
Valentine's - pink 'n red.
Halloween - orange
Anyway......

When does my favorite color get a turn?
Easter, yeah, kinda.
But it needs it's own special day.
How does one celebrate the color yellow, you ask?
Think sunshine, smiley faces, lemons,
warmth, happiness......
What makes you happy?
Gets you right in the sweet spot of your heart
and makes your soul do a jig?
Makes you want to shout,
"Hooray for today!"

There's lots of ways we can celebrate.
Draw a sun on your kids' bathroom mirror,
bake a lemon cake,
pin a felt happy face to your shirt
and wear it all weekend,
read in the sunlight.

Even more meaningful,
do something that will bring some yellow
to someone else.
Service.
Serving others never fails to bring
some sunshine to your soul, and theirs.
Send a letter to cheer up a friend.
Help a neighbor bring in the groceries.
Doorbell ditch some flowers.
Hold the door open for a stranger.
Donate some clothes or food.
Get creative.
This is going to be real fun.

And I think I need this to wear come Friday......

Now go, plan, celebrate, and have fun!
I'm inviting you to join me
this Friday through Sunday eve
to celebrate the yellow moments of the weekend.
Okay?!!!
I hope you'll leave me a comment next Monday
and tell me how it went!
xoxo

celebrating: GREEN

Happy Spring!
Officially.
Not that it really seems like it yet.
It's been cold & windy & gray.
But it is on my calendar and I love Spring
and therefore,
we celebrate.
We woke up to flowers
and orange rolls.
I would have had some chirping
bluebirds flying whimsically
throughout the house,
but....
ya' know.
That's psycho,
which I definitely am not.

A bit of green out front.
But how come mine are like,
2 inches,
and everybody else's are 6?!
Green thumb? Not me.

The beginnings of a green yard again.

1st spotted:
3/15/11

Is this for real?
The ladybug returns for his
3rd year March appearance.
Remember?
This is just getting weird.
Anyway......
we loved St. Patrick's Day!

Am I the only one that stayed up
til midnite,
weaving a crepe paper rainbow
through my house,
smirking like a school girl
thinking about how much fun my
children would have the next morning
hunting for the gold at the end of it?
I know, I'm so obnoxious!

When Ella saw the rainbow,
she said,
"Bainbow!"
Where did she learn that?
Breakfast was
rainbow pancakes & Lucky Charms.

Bugg's breakfast

The leprechauns gave us all
kisses during the night.
(Ha! I got them all tattooed.
Even the Hunk.
Nobody woke up.)

We gave Bugg a lucky visit
at preschool.

Do they not have the cutest
art projects?!

My friend & I did a class party
for Mia's class.
So fun.
Except that I still don't have
my complete voice back!
And that's tricky with a room full
of 1st graders!
Had a flashlight hunt that evening
looking for the 4 leaf clover.
It had a clue on it to find the treasure:
these cupcakes.

Luck SHMUCK.
Just plain BLESSED really!

vacationing: part THREE.

The ocean.
The beach, wind, waves,
salty air, seagulls,
sparkly water,
sand.......
but my family at the ocean,
that's where my joy is at.
It was a MUST
while we were in CA.

It was a bit tricky with
Bugg's hot wheels.
But so worth the effort.
We went to Ventura Beach
with Brian's brother Shane
and his family.
BEAUTIFUL!

Ella in her element

This is Ella,
after taking a nose dive.
She plum ran right into the waves!
But, of COURSE, she would do that.
One of the awesome things
about Bugg:
He always stays put.
the waves came up
right to his chair!

The kids all loved it.
But I realllllly loved it.
And Happy St. Patrick's Day!
And thank you so much for your
sweet thoughts & words about my grandma!!
